ABSTRACT:
Companies of all sizes rely on the information produced by spreadsheets to make important business decisions. Over time, these spreadsheets grow in complexity and the company needs to extend the spreadsheet logic beyond a single desktop but to do so in Java formatting is very difficult.

This paper will provide four different Java approaches to this problem, describing the advantages and disadvantages that each approach can provide:

  • Hand-Coding Excel Logic in Java
  • Using Excel on the Server
  • Compile the Spreadsheet into Java Code
  • Using a Pure Java Excel Toolset
