ABSTRACT:
IPTV is a cutting edge mass-market technology. Many companies are asking whether IPTV is a safe investment, and looking for guidance as to how to enter the IPTV Marketplace.
On the positive side IPTV has mass-market appeal and a willingness to pay for the service, assuming the content mix meets expectations. On the negative side there are a number of competing technologies in this space and IPTV can be expensive both in terms of capital expenditure (CAPEX) and integration costs (OPEX). IPTV expenditure is not justifiable if any operator seeks to simply offer a 'me too' TV package, IPTV must offer a substantial content mix and seek to leverage the technology.
